{social media silence, please join me}

As I was driving home the other morning very quickly after receiving a  "severe thunderstorm warning" text from the local news center, I felt that I just needed to do something. I have sat the past few days in complete tears watching the news & programs about all that is going on in Joplin, Missouri. Which is proceeded by the same feelings just a few weeks ago with the tornados in the south.

I am sitting here with chills as I type this. I am in disbelief. I have never seen such devastation nor read about it in my life. My husband is a catastrophic insurance adjuster and he told me in 16 yrs of this work, the tornados that flew through the South was the worst catastrophe that he has ever worked. Now it has moved on to Missouri.

I am going to take a break starting on Monday for an entire week from this blog. Every time I walk towards it {to read blogs} I will instead pray. Everytime I decide to touch the Twitter button on my phone, I will pray. I feel that this is the best thing we can do for all these people suffering. I count it a privelage to pray for the hurting people. For all the people who have lost children, mothers, fathers friends, sisters, brothers, animals, belongings and so on and so forth. Let's just blanket all of the hurting with our thoughts & prayers.

If you would like to join me, my post on Monday will have a linky. Feel free to add your blog & if you join me, here is a little badge to add to your post. You can choose 1 day or the week, more or less. I have chosen the entire week. {semi} wordless wednesday will resume the the following week. Whatever day you choose,  still link up as when I return, I'd love to see how many people participated.

Some people blog certain things on certain days {HELLO, have ya ever met me? ha} So if you choose to only participate for a short time, I'd still love to hear. (still link & share your times/thoughts)

Rather it be gaminig, blogging, facebooking or tweeting, any moment we can stop & pray on behalf of these hurting would be a blessing.

** I know how many times I get on social media networks in a 24 hr period so even a day is a LOT of prayers ☺

You can also grab a badge for your blog, maybe others will have a chance to see it before Monday incase they'd like to participate.

Just for a day or 2:

  1. Hi Daphne, what an amazing person you are to propose this. I too am hurting for the people of Joplin and Alabama and can't imagine what they are going through. God Bless your husband for helping the people in need through his work, I am sure they are eternally grateful.

  4. Daphne, I got the chillls reading YOUR post. You are a kind and kindred spirit, a special person and God has a special place on this earth for you. I love what you are doing. It is surreal what is happening and I cannot fully grasp what has happened becuase it just seems impossible, it is just so unreal. The pictures look like they are out of some kind of supernatural movie. I pray for these people every day and pray that God will continue to light the dark path that so many of these famlies are walking right now.

  8. What a wonderful idea Daphne! It is so scary, heartbreaking, and unsettling. Tonight we were in the movie theater when the power went out and the tornado sirens were going off. I was freaking out. I am so sad for those who have lost so much, and so terrified of what could happen still as these springtime storms rage on. Praying is all we can do in times like these.

  15. Kudos to you Daphne! I don't think I've ever thought about how much time I spend with the social media as opposed to the time I spend in prayer. WOW! thanks for making me so aware and for such a worthy, worthy cause. We can only imagine what these precious folks are facing and especially those that do not have the assurance of the Lord in their lives. Blessings to you for a joy filled week my dear!

  17. I am currently located about 50 miles away from Joplin. I was out of town for the storms, so I wasn't affected, but I think that what you are doing is absolutely admirable. Thank you for making a point to stand up for those people who cannot.
