Miscellany Monday

happy monday y'all!!
i hope this finds all my sweet friends well.
was your weekend just perfect?
better than you imagined?

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
1. the weekend.....ours was filled with family time, a mexican dinner, a birthday party, a mani/pedi, a date, a sad SAINTS loss & 2 new/recreated recipes...OMGAWD, 1 of them is to.die.for. you don't want to miss tomorrow post for this recipe. i'll give you a hint with 3 words: rum | pudding | bread :lawdy mercy

2less stress....i made my gmail account have an auto-reply to all comments. this is a LOT of stress taken off of me. i feel that if you take the time to reply to a post then i owe you the time to reply. well, this was getting the best of me cause i was freaking when i didn't reply ASAP! so, it will say thanks & have a reply that has something to do with THAT days post. if you ask me a question, you WILL get a personal reply.  pinky promise! i just can't reply to all, prompt, anymore. i want to. i have tired. i am failing. i can't :( BUT ON A NOTHER NOTE, i feel like i accomplish alot b/c i comment on alot of blogs and i only get abt 1 reply out of about every 15 i leave.....so for this, i feel better & i try not to totally beat myself up. (but still, i try to be gracious & thankful)

3. home tour ideas....shannon & i are working on a list of themes so that you will know a few weeks in advance what is coming up.....is there anything that you'd like to see featured? is there something you'd like to show off? if so, please let me know. i'd love to have a list for each month posted at a time!!

4. the first time :(...... those of you that have been following me a while may know my son doesn't go to lunch. he is in a new school. very introverted. doesn't step out to meet friends :( he has gone to the library every.single.day.at.lunch.since.the.first.day.of.school- he doesn't eat lunch. hasn't once since day 1. he goes and surfs the web or works on homework/projects. on friday, he ate lunch with friends......(((gasp))) wiping my tears. ya know, it would be 1 thing if he was 5 & in frist grade. he is 17 and in the 11th grade.

5. i'm not a weekend blogger....someone made a comment about me taking the weekend off (like yay for you, very sweet comment, i do appreciate it!) and  YES, yay!! you will rarely see me blog on the weekend. that's my time for my family & my OFF days! i will also rarely blog hop then either. i try to hit my reader first thing each morning. i will ck back here & there to see who may have updated later in the day. time allowing. {remember 2011: SIMPLIFY!!}

6. no facebook = a LOT of time to do things!!! ......never imagined....i have to tell you i have about a 100lb weight lifted off me. i tend to carry everyones burdens with me. i read their problems. i read what aggravates them. i read what they are doing. what they don't want to do. what they are excited to do. when they are drunk. when they want to be drunk. i see pictures of every thing they eat. everything they cook. everything they drink.blah blah blah blah i am FREE and it feels good! {my fan page is still set up via another account, i have NO friends and it updates automatically} freeing. good feeling. i can't even begin to tell you how i am making the most of those free moments ....i am so loving it!

7.  my thought for today:

{via}

** be sure to link up tomorrow {after 7am, cst.} for home tour tuesday with shannon & i. this weeks them is- "airing your dirty laundry: show us your laundry room"~

blessings y'all!!

  1. Happy Monday girlie! I'm lovin' your new attitude - REDUCE stress! :) It's definitely encouraging me! So thanks :)

And YAY for your son eating lunch! Maybe he's starting a new trend for himself?? :)

Oh, and I can't wait to see the new recipes!

    Have a great day!

  2. It sounds like you had a fantastic weekend. Mexican food makes anything great! Yum!

I am so happy to hear about your son. It's so hard being a parent. All you want to do is protect them and make everything better (My husband and I had an outburst at the hockey rink in regards to something my son's sociopath coach has been doing to the children. We didn't act very mature, but we were just so angry.).

I got off FB, too, about 4 months ago. Freeing is the perfect word to describe it. I think I'll look into the way you set up your "fan page." I didn't know you could do that!

    Have a great Monday!

  3. I'm looking forward to your recipe tomorrow!!

Yay for eliminating extra stress in your life (gmail, FB) I need to do the same thing!!

    Happy Monday!!

  4. Happy Monday Daphne!! Hope your weekend was great. Sounds like it was :) And I, like you, and most bloggers, take off on the weekends. If someone has time and can do it, great. If not, sorry. We all need to prioritize. As far as FB, that is why I never joined. I think I am the only person in the world not on there. But it takes too much time and if there are people that you want to keep in touch with, there are other ways to do it. So, congrats to you :) As far as responding, I try to respond too. It is not always with in a few minutes or even within an hour. But I try to do it the same day. I think your automated reply is great. Blogging is supposed to be fun..not stressful. And I am so happy that your son went to lunch. Little steps are always good :)

  5. Sounds like you had an absolutely fabulous weekend. I am not really a Saints fan at all. But I loathe the Steelers so I was rooting for any team NOT the Steelers lol. Thats awesome that your son had lunch with friends...good for him!

    xo

  6. Yes, we were sorry the Saints lost, but after all, it really is just a game. :o) Good for you, reducing the stress in your life. Good idea for all of us and I do love the word SIMLIFY! Enjoyed the visit and wishing you a stress free simple week!

  7. Yay for less stress! You have to take care of YOU, girl!

What a huge moment for your son (and you!!). High school can be a real pain in the tail, especially for someone who is introverted. That was such a big step for him and I bet you are one proud momma!

  12. Love the thought for the day!! I have cut back on facebook.....I still have my fan page...but I rarely leave comments anymore...too distracting!

  15. I am so happy for your son. I know sometimes it just breaks your heart when you are raising kids! He will find his own group to fin into.
Glad you had a good weekend!

  16. Happy Monday my friend! Love the inspiration in the above post! 1&2 are amazing tips! ~ Simplify ~ is a common 2011 motto, one that I'm certain is overdue for many of us A type personalities!

Thanks for sharing .... it made me smile to read that your son had lunch with friends. Sounds like he is starting to come into his own and he will soon be the man about town! He was probably waiting to encounter some good souls to become friends with... and we all know that can take time, especially during the teenage years.

Wishing you a happy and blessings filled week! xo HHL

  17. haha i use my weekends to stalk blogs...besides nothing ever fun happens to me on the weekends! :o)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yay for your son eating lunch with friends! That's a big step.

I'm not a weekend blogger either - it takes all I have to blog during the week. It's time consuming to edit pics, write, read, comment, etc. I need at least 2 days to recoup from the week. HA!

    Have a good one!

  19. I love the auto reply to comments idea! It's so hard to find the time to reply to every comment people leave but it's such a nice gesture. I hope you have a great day :)

  20. Daphne! I so understand the Facebook thing. Last summer my youngest daughter took away my keyboard AND my mouse ... and my laptop (at my request) so I couldn't FB for two weeks. I accomplished so much....and, just like Elvis, I wasn't forgotten! Imagine that!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love this post. I feel like somedays all I get done is trying to post on other blogs, do replies, create a new post for my own...wait I have 4 kids, house, and hubby!!! I don't know how to fit it all in...and it's more than a little addictive! Simplify is a great mantra!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's great news about your son!! I know how happy that must make you. We were bummed about the Saints loss too. I guess there's always next year.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So glad about your son! I know how miserable parts of high school can be for some children, so this is a huge breakthrough. Bless his heart and bless yours! It's so hard being a mom! xoxo

  24. I wish I had the time to reply to every single comment. I do try to visit the blogs of everyone who visits and that takes a ton of time. I feel your pain. Don't feel bad lady. Life trumps blog as one of my wise bloggy buds always says!

  25. Loved all of your suggestions. I'm glad to see you are simplifying. Maybe I'll take your lead. :)

    Have a great night!

  26. I am so happy for you to find more balance. Facebook and blogging take up so much time (which is why you won't see my laundry room) Finding balance between them and real interaction life can be hard especially in the winter. But I love your blog and reading your comments on mine. Thanks for stopping by you are a very encouraging beautiful lady.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gosh - my laundry room? you asked for it!! LOL ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Your such a sweetie. NOW I WANT A PERSONAL RESPONSE BACK. I'm just pickin with ya. So glad for your son. Oooh, and I can't show my laundry room, ya'll would never ever invite me to join anything again!

    ReplyDelete
  29. What a wonderfully uplifting post! Hope you have a week as fabulous as you are! =)

    ReplyDelete
  30. In regards to the comment thing... I used to feel the same way. I'd feel awful if I didn't comment back. It was all consuming. It was ridiculous. Take that pressure off yourself! : ) I did and it feels much better! I like your Facebook idea and I may consider it. I like how you simplify! Thanks for linking up!

    ReplyDelete
  31. you won't regret leaving FB. i love not spending my life on there!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Great post!! Just so you know...I don't expect a reply when I leave a comment unless I ask a question :) I reply to comments if I really have something to say, but I also feel like I don't want to take up people's inboxes with a simple "thanks," or "I appreciate it." I guess I just take that as a given :) That's just me.

And I'm so happy for you for your son!!! I have taught 6th grade through 10th grade and I know how you feel somewhat. That is a huge accomplishment, and I'm so glad it happened FOR YOU!

Ideas for HTT: dining room with china featured?? I don't know...just thinking... I don't think I will link up tomorrow...my laundry room is an embarassment. Especially right now after a snow day! :)

  33. Happy Monday! I like your attitude, no stress and keep it simple! :)

  34. That's great to hear he had lunch with friends! I'm sure it's been tough being at a new school. I think it's harder when you are in senior high than if you were in junior high. Hope the lunches continues!:)

    ReplyDelete
  35. You're definitley my girl. I don't blog or blog hop on the weekends, I answer EVERY email from fans (which is a full time job) and FB takes away your whole day. sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Simplify. You are total on top of things. Way to go. How sad is it that I am totally addicted to FB.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Great news about DS, hope the trend continues! :-) Loved the Misc. Monday post! We need to "simplify" by getting together for lunch and drinks - maybe more drinks than lunch - soon! XOXO

  38. love the thought for the day. and thats a great idea doing an auto reply to comments. I may do that too. Lovely blog!
