Blogger Tricks & Tips

Happy Friday Girlfriends! Can I get a big TGIF! In my effort to simply & get organized, I am having to do a lot of work to make it happen. Does that even make sense? It's true though. I have also been working on my blog & internet/computer to be more "user friendly" AKA time savers for me. I'll be sharing this on my next organizing post. In the end, it will be a lot of stress off of me & well, isn't that what it's all about?

On another note, I was in the office store the other day. I saw a TYPEWRITER! Like, for purcahse! Like, an entire row of them. LOL I honest to God, had no idea that the were even still being produced. Did you know this?? I'll stick with my MAC, thanks though!

I recently came across a few things that I think you all may enjoy.

Have you wanted to have a cute font for your title but wasn't sure how to do "all the html" stuff? Well, click here to see just how you can dot it, while in designer. {it's a draft.blogger designer, who knew?}
Do you ever try to read blogs from your smartphone? If so, you know it's kinda difficult, esp. if you have old bad eyes. Blogger now has a new mobile template! It reformats your blog for mobile phones. I am really excited about this because I just downloaded the FeeddlerRSS onto my iPhone. I can scroll through my (google) reader but once I want to comment (which you have to then open in Safari) the screen shrinks a zillion times. This addition will make it much easier & more accessible. Click here to read more & transform your blog for a smartphone.

Do you ever compose a post that you want your readers to be able to share? {twitter, facebook, etc} Maybe you shared a recipe or story that you want your readers to be able to print? With ADDTHIS you can choose from many different share widgets. So many times I see recipes that I want on blogs & I have to copy and paste and then open my mail and stick it in there and THEN print. With this widget, just hit the lil printer:) You can find this here. It has many different "share" options for all your social media needs. IF you prefer just a "print" option, you can get that here. {thats what I have, right under this post}

User friendly blogs- I came across this wesbite, Funky Junk Interiors, it's full of awesome information. She has a great post on making your blog user friendly. Really really good ideas, from word verification, to comment notification, activating your profile, etc. ALL THE WHYS AND HOWS. I will say that one thing I read- she mentions the embedded comments. I reallllllllly like the embedded comments but recently found out that many people can't comment in that format. I am not sure why, something with their settings/template?? So therefor, you have to have the pop up enabled, just a lil FYI:) Read all about that here.

Adding widgets in HTML isn't very fun when you CAN'T FIND WHERE IT GOES! {pulling hair out trying to find it!} Now you can easily find where to add your words. I am on a Mac, so I go into the html, hit command and F at the same time. A little box will pop up at the top right of the scree. Start typing the words your looking for. They will automatically highlight on your script so you can find it better. Wish I had known this tip a long time ago! {I assume PC users would shit shift F}

Blogger Etiquette: I had so many people comment on this post & ask questions about it, I thought I'd share the link to my post again incase anyone missed it. BLOGTIQUETTE

I hope that some of this may have help someone out there-

I'll be back later with a weekend wish for you!
Blessings Y'all ♥Daph

  2. Thanks for sharing. I am going to check out Funky Junk Interiors. Any help I can get is great. Had no idea about the "command F" thing.

    I have to laugh about your typewriter photo. I was just telling my son the other day how lucky he is to be able to word process on a computer. "Back in the day" when I went to school, we used typewriters. Every mistake called for white out or correction tape. Sheesh...some of the papers I turned in were covered in that "white stuff." We've come a long way, Baby!

    I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

    Another great post. Thanks so much for sharing, especially about the smartphone stuff. I have a Droid and it is such a pain to try and comment on that sucker. I'm definitely going to figure out getting my blog smartphone-friendly! Can't wait to go check out Funky Junk Interiors - what a fun name!

    Run on. Oh, and I would love, love, love to have a typewriter! Especially if it's one of the old ones like Rosalind Russell uses in His Girl Friday. Ugh, love it.
