17 yrs ago today.....

i was 20 years old....
{looked 12}
married......
 in labor!!

happy birthday to my baby boy!

be sure to turn the sound up so you can cry sing along!

this was the day I learned the true meaning of selflessness.....

no matter how you say it or what language....

 diecisiete
dix-sept
septendecim
十七 (Shí qī)
δεκαεπτά
diciassette
שבע עשרה
seventeen

it doesn't change the number or the fact......

it hurts my heart to know.....

that my son is becoming a man.....

seems like yesterday i was playing with his blond curls....
laying in bed with him each night as he played with my hair to fall asleep.....
sewing him power ranger blankets....
sewing the crotch of his power ranger outfit that was worn 24/7....
listening to him call me "ma"......
stepping on his hotwheels & legos in the middle of night as i would go in to kiss him.....
drinking coffee with a 3 yr old in the morning......
singing every word to every veggie tale video....

i am excited for this next step in his life...
i am so proud of the young man he has become....
i couldn't ask for a more respectful, thoughtful, kind or loving son....

i just don't want to let go.....

i will suck it up....
i will be his best friend still....
his biggest cheerleader ofcourse...
& his momma, always!

  1. Happy Birthday to your son...Mine is on Saturday...so November is a good month!

I totally know what your saying...my son is still that three year old you mentioned and I don't even want to think about the day he'll be 17! I think I will feel the same exact things you mentioned! Good luck in coping with it all! (Crazy to think now we know how OUR parents felt and why they seemed to be so strict about not wanting to let us grow up!)

  6. Happy birthday to your "little" boy! And congrats to on Momma-versary! (I don't care if that's not a word, it should be.)

    Run on.

PS. I remember this song from when I was a kid. My Momma always sang it and it always made me sad at the end.

  7. Each child's birth has a special place in our hearts but there is something about having a boy. Boys love their momma's and likewise momma's LOVE their boys.
May you and your precious son enjoy this special day together.

  12. Happy Birthday to your son! I can understand exactly how you feel...GG is only 15 months and I dread each passing month as she grows up just a little more.
